The networking event of the year was held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on March 10, 2010. Real Estate – Yesterday’s Gone

Real estate, whether it’s real estate in Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, San Diego, Temecula or any other place on earth, is a seducer itself.

Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham sang “Don’t Stop” originally in 1977, and they certainly weren’t talking about real estate, but I was taking it in the other day and realized that if you’re going to be at peace with buying, selling, owning, or investing in real estate you have to never “stop thinking about tomorrow.” More than love and music, the land beneath us, and the roofs about us, lead us forward in an alluringly constant way. We know things will be “better than before”, and this is something we want not only for ourselves and our children, but also for all of humanity.

The number of foreclosures and distressed properties seems to grow each day, and for many, looking back at what happened is a bad book they can’t seem to put down. Why? It’s done. Mistakes were make, lives jostled, and egos bruised, but there is no longer anything to be gained by turning back to watch the city burn. The road ahead has potholes and turns, and so it’s much better to keep our eyes there rather than in the rearview mirror.

Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow…or if it feels good, about right now. It’s a pretty wonderful country, this U.S.A., and even better if you’re lucky enough to live in one of San Diego’s North County cities.
